In a major crackdown on financial irregularities, the Maharashtra government has ordered the attachment of assets worth over Rs 100 crore linked to former officials of the defunct Nagar Urban Multi-State Co-operative Bank.
The action, taken under the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors Act, covers 72 properties associated with 28 individuals, including ex-directors and staff, media reports say.
Among those named are former MP Dilip Gandhi and other senior functionaries. Authorities said the move aims to safeguard depositors affected by the alleged Rs 291 crore scam.
The probe, led by the Economic Offences Wing, found suspected fund diversion and mismanagement. The bank’s licence was revoked in 2023, and liquidation proceedings are currently underway.
