Nafed’s godowns have huge stock of pulses

Despite the country being oversupplied with pulses, Foreign Trade authorities have issued recently a circular inviting applications for import licences from millers and refiners.

Nafed has said it has lakhs of tonnes of pulses lying in its godowns, reports The Hindu.

Official sources saying the govt. has put a cap on the import of pulses. But the latest decision has not pleased the farmers who fear a reduction in prices will affect them.

However, millers and refiners have welcomed the decision.
