NAFED procuring Red Onions from Nashik: Bijender

With an objective to help the farmers, Nafed is taking lead from the front in procuring the Red Onion from the farmers of Nashik district in Maharashtra.

In a media byte given to the DD News, Nafed Chairman Bijendra Singh said, “We are procuring the Red Onion from the farmers of Nashik. So far, 1,327 MT at Rs 9 per KG are procured from the farmers. The Onion is being dispatched to Delhi and other areas.

“The consumption of onions is more in Delhi in comparison to other states. Around eight trucks of Red Onion are being sent to Delhi everyday”, he added.

Besides, to accelerate the procurement process, Nafed opened four more centers and benefitted over 350 farmers. The agri cooperative is also looking forward to opening additional centres for the benefit of more farmers.
