The Ministry of Cooperation has highlighted the role of cooperatives and NABARD in promoting green energy and sustainable rural development through the effective utilisation of agricultural residues.
In a social media post, the Ministry said the joint efforts are giving crop residue a new identity by supporting green projects through cooperative institutions.
According to the Ministry, cooperative societies are receiving financial and technical assistance to implement environmentally sustainable initiatives, creating new avenues for rural employment, additional income for farmers and clean energy generation.
The Ministry said these initiatives are helping transform agricultural waste into productive resources while strengthening the rural economy. It added that the cooperative-driven model is advancing the vision of Sahkar Se Samriddhi by empowering farmers, fostering sustainable development and steering the country towards a greener and more environmentally responsible future.
