In a major digital leap for India’s cooperative ecosystem, NABARD has successfully completed GIS mapping of all Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) covered under the Computerization of PACS (CSPCP) programme, right up to the Gram Panchayat (GP) level.
The achievement marks a transformative milestone in enhancing transparency, accountability, and data-driven governance across rural India.
According to NABARD, a nationwide GIS-based thematic map has been developed to visually distinguish Gram Panchayats based on the level of PACS service coverage. The interactive dashboard uses a color-coded mapping system, Green for fully covered GPs, Yellow for partially covered, and Orange for those not covered. Users can zoom into village-level data to instantly access details such as the PACS name, secretary, and contact information.
The impact is already evident: precision service delivery, improved resource allocation, and stronger rural-connectivity frameworks. Farmers, PACS staff, and administrators stand to gain from the digital ecosystem powered by accurate geo-coverage.
NABARD describes the initiative as a step toward “Geo-Coverage—Building Smarter, Connected Rural Communities.”
