Mysore: Co-op banks come to farmers’ rescue

Cooperative banks including DCC will spend Rs. 350 crore on giving loans to farmers to ease the prevailing drought situation in Mysuru district in Karnataka, reports Times of India.

A source is quoted saying a total outlay of Rs 7,810 crore has planned wherein Rs 6,233 crore has been earmarked for the priority sector with 20% increase (Rs 1,049 crore over previous year) and Rs 1,577 crore for non-priority sector with a hike of 23% (Rs 300 crore from previous year).

Agriculture has been allocated Rs 2,979 crore in which Rs 2,187 crore is for crop loans (35% increase) and Rs 792 crore for term loans (13% increase)..
