Mumbai DCCB’s Darekar accused of fund-mismanagement

Dealing a body-blow to the anti-corruption slogan of BJP, ruling BJP legislator Pravin Darekar, Chairman of Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank has been accused of gross financial mismanagement by Nabard.

Agri-lender has accused Darekar of misconduct and said it has unearthed new fraudulent transactions under his watch at the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank  involving dozens of credit cooperative societies in the city, reports PTI.

Nabard has found several lacunae in the Bank’s operation and concluded the bank exists with high operational risks. Nabard’s Maharashtra regional office had submitted its report on the Co-op Bank.

Darekar, earlier with Raj Thackeray’s MNS, later joined the BJP and got elected to the upper house. He was not immediately available for comments.
