MSCB: Anna challenges closure report; hearing begins

Renowned social activist Anna Hazare filed a petition in a court in Mumbai opposing the closure report given by Mumbai Police in the MSCB scam case, media reports say.

A court heard his plea on Saturday and the case was adjourned to March 15.

The scam is alleged to be of Rs 25,000 crore. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was one of the accused named in the case.

The closure report cleared all the accused including deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar of any wrongdoing in the case. The cooperative dept of Maharashtra govt has also cleared all the accused.

More than two years on, the police have yet to act in the case, Hazare complains. The petition also refers to Hazare fighting for the cause of cooperative sugar factories since 2011.
