The Ministry of Cooperation has released Rs 236.58 crore as Grant-in-Aid to the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) during the last five financial years, while the council conducted a record 17,709 training programmes to strengthen human resources in the cooperative sector, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha.

In a written reply, Shah said the Ministry regularly reviews the financial and institutional support extended to cooperative training institutions, including the Natesan Institute of Cooperative Management (NICM).

According to the Minister, NCCT received Rs 236.58 crore in grants between 2021-22 and 2025-26, with the entire amount fully utilised. In addition, Rs 5.39 crore was released in 2022-23 for infrastructure development.

Training activity has grown steadily, rising from 1,598 programmes in 2021-22 to 4,676 programmes in 2025-26, reflecting the Ministry’s focus on capacity building in the cooperative sector.

Shah also said the Government has modernised the training curriculum of cooperative training institutions to align it with the evolving requirements of the cooperative movement.
