Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that the Ministry of Cooperation has commissioned multiple strategic studies to strengthen cooperative institutions and enhance their contribution to the economy during Amrit Kaal (2022–2047).
The Ministry has commissioned a study to assess the growth potential of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), conducted by AFC India Ltd. The objective is to ensure compliance with Section 24 of the MSCS Act, modernize cooperative education, develop a 25-year growth roadmap, and strengthen NCUI’s governance, outreach, training infrastructure, and its role in cooperative sector development nationwide.
Similarly, a national study on FISHCOPFED (National Federation of Fishers Cooperatives Ltd.) has been launched to accelerate business growth during Amrit Kaal. Also conducted by AFC India Ltd., the study aims to achieve 25% business growth through diversification, governance reforms, digital outreach, and overall strengthening of fisheries cooperatives.
It covers six states and involves multi-stakeholder engagement to develop strategic plans that boost the socio-economic impact of the fisheries cooperative sector.
Additionally, a comprehensive study on the National Labour Cooperative Federation (NLCF) has been completed, generating strategic recommendations to reposition NLCF as a business-oriented entity with improved infrastructure, diversified services, and robust training initiatives.
The Ministry has also completed an Impact Assessment Study through LINAC to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry. The findings provide actionable insights to enhance the resilience and inclusivity of the cooperative sector.
