Ministry asks NCUI to compile list of multistate co-ops

NCUI as an apex organisation representing the entire cooperative movement in the country has been entrusted by the Ministry of Cooperation to prepare a compendium of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) in India. NCUI has communicated through a letter written to all multi-state cooperative societies to send basic information pertaining to their activities/programs so that profiles of such societies are included in this compendium.

This is the first of its kind compilation of basic details of MSCS in order to introduce the schematic interventions for enhancing and expanding the business activities of MSCS besides ensuring professionalism and good-governance.

The study also focuses on analysing the measures undertaken and services rendered during COVID Pandemic in order to suggest suitable policy measures and come up with developmental strategies for building up a resilient cooperative system. The study assumes significance at a time when the government is giving due priority to strengthen multi-state cooperative societies, and create a conducive climate for their growth and development.
