Minister wants co-ops to make TN, a trillion-dollar economy

Tamil Nadu Minister for Finance and Electricity Thangam Thennarasu said, Cooperative Societies in Tamil Nadu have so far disbursed crop loans of Rs 13,443 crore, exceeding the target of Rs 12,000 crore, reports The Hindu.

Addressing the 70th All India Cooperative Week celebrations in Tirunelveli, the minister said the cooperative societies, which were playing pivotal roles in improving the livelihood of farmers, dairy farmers and weavers, were giving loans with subsidies to the target groups.

The minister called upon the cooperative bodies to help the state become a trillion-dollar economy.
