A Rs 400-crore Sabar Dairy (Amul) Mega Integrated Dairy Plant was launched at Urja Industrial Park in Toopran, Medak district, with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Telangana ministers D Sridhar Babu and G Vivek Venkatswamy attending the foundation ceremony.
The plant is expected to be completed in 18 months and will initially process five lakh litres of milk daily, benefiting nearly 10,000 dairy farmers and generating around 350 direct jobs.
Reddy said the project would strengthen Telangana’s dairy sector and create livelihood opportunities, particularly for women and youth. He also stressed the need to expand the cooperative movement, saying collective action can improve farmers’ bargaining power and address gaps in markets, storage, processing, branding and value addition.
Citing Sabar Dairy’s growth since 1964, Reddy said it has expanded from 19 cooperative societies procuring 5,100 litres daily to nearly 50 lakh litres a day, with around 50,000 milk producers, mostly women. Its turnover reached Rs 10,500 crore in 2025-26.
