Mangaljit meets Bhutani; discusses co-op movement in North East

Dr. Mangaljit Rai Ranasampang, Chairman of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union, met Dr. Ashish Bhutani, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, at his office in Akshay Atal Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative movement in Sikkim and the North-Eastern region.

During the meeting, discussions were held on organising an upcoming Cooperative Conference in Gangtok, tentatively scheduled between February 15 and 28, as suggested by the Secretary. The proposed conference is expected to focus on cooperative development and capacity-building in the region.

Dr. Rai also reminded the Secretary that a detailed project proposal for the North Excellence Cooperative Centre, Sikkim, had been submitted to the Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation. Dr. Bhutani assured that he would follow up on the proposal and share further updates at the earliest.

Subsequently, Dr. Rai also met Siddarth Jain, IAS, Additional Secretary, and Kapil Meena, IAS, Director, Ministry of Cooperation, to discuss the Cooperative Education Fund, which has already been sanctioned to the Sikkim State Cooperative Union.
