Majhi discusses co-op strengthening with MoS

In a significant review meeting held, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Muralidhar Mohol with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, discussed strategies to strengthen the cooperative sector in the state.

During the meeting, it was decided that Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) would no longer be limited to credit activities but would also be engaged in multi-dimensional business operations.

Special focus was given to the formation of 2 lakh new M-PACS under the national target, promoting the spirit of “Cooperation in Cooperation,” and involving PACS in the world’s largest grain storage initiative.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah, efforts are being accelerated across the country to empower cooperative institutions.

Other key topics discussed included the computerization of RCS offices, promotion of NCOL, NCEL, and BBSSL, affiliation of cooperative institutions with the newly established Tribhuvan Cooperative University, and the potential formation of dairy and fisheries cooperatives in prospective areas.

The meeting was attended by Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Joint Secretaries of the Cooperative Ministry Anand Kumar Jha and Raman Kumar, Odisha Cooperative Secretary Rajesh Patil, and other senior officials from the state government and the Ministry.
