Maha govt allows conduct of elections in thousands of co-ops

Thousands of cooperative institutions will soon go to the polls in Maharashtra. The state govt has given the green light for holding elections, reports Indian Express.

The elections were delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is worth mentioning that the tenure for most of the cooperative bodies had ended a year and a half ago.

Another news outlet Top News Right Now says 45,000 cooperative bodies — which include 48 sugar mills, 66 spinning mills and the district central cooperative banks (DCCB)s of several districts have to elect their boards of directors.
