In a significant boost to the cooperative sector, the Maharashtra Government has amended its Rajmata Jijau Women Empowerment Scheme to make registered Women’s Service Cooperative Societies eligible to lease government land for fodder and bamboo cultivation.
The Revenue Department issued a corrigendum on July 9, 2026, modifying the Government Resolution dated June 19, 2026. Under the revised policy, registered Women’s Service Cooperative Societies can now avail the benefits of the scheme alongside other eligible women-led entities.
The amendment also eases eligibility norms for newly registered Women’s Service Cooperative Societies. While the earlier requirement of an annual turnover of Rs 50,000 has been relaxed, such societies must maintain a minimum bank balance of Rs 50,000 to qualify.
Additionally, the corrigendum inserts Women’s Service Cooperative Societies into the provisions governing the extent of government land that can be leased under the scheme.
