Loan waiver: Ghost beneficiaries spring up in Rajasthan

Media reports say the new Rajasthan govt’s farmer loan waiver scheme has begun showing imperfections.

The names of 1700 farmers of Gowadi village in Dungarpur district who never availed any loans from the cooperative bank figure in the list of those whose short-term farm loans were waived off by the Gehlot government.

The villagers held a protest and submitted a memorandum to the authorities asking for a thorough inquiry into the matter.

After assuming office , Ashok Gehlot had announced a farm loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh, The loan waiver will cost the state exchequer Rs 18,000 crore.
