In a bid to strengthen governance and operational efficiency in the cooperative sector, Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. organised a two-day High-Tech Training Program for Presidents and Chief Executive Officers of high-end working capital Souharda cooperatives from the Mysuru Division. The program was held at Antarvanam Resort, Kollur, on February 19 and 20, 2026.
The training program was inaugurated by G. Nanjana Gowda, President of Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. Addressing the participants, he emphasized that training and education form the foundation for the sustainable growth of cooperatives. He noted that Souharda cooperatives have been performing well overall, though isolated instances of misuse by a few individuals have posed challenges. He said the cooperative sector continues to fulfil the aspirations of members largely because of its strong spirit of service.
Highlighting the responsibility of cooperative leaders, Nanjana Gowda stated that societies handling members’ deposits must function with utmost transparency and accountability. He stressed the need to prevent financial irregularities and scams, urging office-bearers to exercise caution while sanctioning loans. With nearly 6,500 Souharda societies operating across Karnataka, he said efforts are underway to further strengthen and streamline their functioning.
Manjunath, Director of KSSFCL, presided over the inaugural session. He observed that rapid changes are taking place in the cooperative sector and leaders must adapt proactively. He encouraged participants to seek greater member cooperation, study evolving trends in the sector and align themselves with the country’s advancing economic landscape.
Among those present were A.R. Prasanna, Vice President of KSSFCL; Smt. Bharathi G. Bhat, Director; Madu Swamy, Professional Director of Okkuta; and Amparu Jagannath Shetty, President of Udupi Jilla Souharda Sahakari Okkuta. A total of 88 participants representing Souharda cooperatives with working capital ranging from Rs 10 crore to Rs 50 crore attended the program.
Auditor CA Madhukar Hegde and trainer Raghunandan served as resource persons, providing technical and compliance-oriented insights. Mysuru Regional Officer Guruprasad Bangega welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory address, while Souharda Cooperative Development Officer Vijay B.S. conducted the proceedings and proposed the vote of thanks.
