The prolonged leadership uncertainty at Amul Dairy was resolved on Monday with the unanimous election of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, nearly three months after the general body elections, media reports say.
The development has brought much-needed clarity and relief to thousands of milk producers associated with the cooperative. Sabesinh Parmar of Virpur was elected Chairman, while Vijay Patel of Dakor was chosen Vice Chairman through consensus at a meeting of the Union’s board of directors.
The unopposed selection marked the end of weeks of deliberations following the elections held earlier this year. The newly elected office-bearers were felicitated at a function held at the Amul auditorium in Kheda district.
The event was attended by local MLAs, district BJP president Sanjay Patel and other party office-bearers, reflecting the political and economic significance of the cooperative.
The consensus-driven decision is expected to restore stability to Amul Dairy’s leadership and ensure smooth functioning of one of Gujarat’s most influential and globally recognised dairy cooperatives, which plays a crucial role in farmers’ livelihoods.
