Kerala mulls amendment of co-op acts for checking frauds

New Indian Express reports Kerala cooperative minister V N Vasavan said the state govt would soon amend the Kerala cooperative societies Act of 1969 to make it more effective in checking graft in cooperative bodies.

 According to the minister, the amended Act would mean the govt could freeze movable and immovable assets of the accused in financial irregularities.

V N Vasavan said the state govt. had directed the state law reforms commission to look into the act and suggest amendments within two months.
