Kerala co-op installs machine to make veggies pesticide-free

Mannarkkad Rural Service Cooperative Bank in Kerala has proven to be an unusual bank in that it has set up a commercial ozone-bubble vegetable and fruit washing machine to provide pesticide-free produce, reports New Indian Express.

M Purushothaman, secretary of the bank. is quoted as saying the vegetables tested in the lab were found to be free from chemical fertiliser or pesticide.

The machine cost Rs 60 lakh. The machine can process 500kg of vegetables in an hour, the secretary informed.
