J&K: Singh lists initiatives for farmers

Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh said ”we can become one of the world’s major economic powers by developing the enterprises related to agriculture, where the products can be stored, processed and brought to the market ”. Singh was addressing the farmers in Srinagar on Monday.

The Minister listed a series of schemes initiated for the betterment of the farmers by the NDA govt.

Singh said Prime Minister unveiled his dream of doubling the income of the farmers by 2022 in Bareilly in February 2016 and he has made necessary funds available for translating this dream into a reality.

In the last three years, the government has focused on five main areas such as Neem Coated Urea, Organic Farming, Soil Health Card Scheme, e-Nam and agri-diversion including animal husbandry, dairy , horticulture, poultry, fisheries, beekeeping, etc.to increase agricultural produce and farmers’ income.

Speaking in the Inter Session Meeting of the Consultative Committee in Srinagar,Radha Mohan also emphasized the need for greater farm mechanization to achieve sustainable development.
