Jharkhand Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey inaugurated a modern 5,000-metric-tonne capacity cold storage facility at Budhakhukhra in Mandar, constructed at a cost of Rs 15.01 crore.
In a significant push to strengthen the cooperative network and agricultural marketing infrastructure, assets worth Rs 1.04 crore were distributed to cooperative societies and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to improve the transportation and marketing of farmers’ produce.
The Minister also inaugurated a 100-kW solar power plant and the Tangarbasli market shed.
Sharing the development, Tirkey said the cold storage would help farmers preserve their produce, reduce post-harvest losses and secure better market prices.
She described the completion of the project as a challenging journey and emphasised that farmer-oriented facilities must reach their intended beneficiaries.
