The Income Tax Department, Trichy, organised an outreach programme for Primary Agricultural Co-operative Credit Societies (PACCS) on 29 October 2026 at Trichy District Central Co-operative Bank, focusing on tax awareness and statutory compliance in the cooperative sector.
Around 70 PACCS Secretaries participated in the programme, which was conducted under the guidance of Shri V. Vivekanandan, IRS, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Madurai, and the leadership of Smt. R. Rajarajeswari, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-1, Trichy.
During the session, Ganesh Kumar, ITO, and Ms. Sumathi Kadirvelu, ITO, explained key provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025, particularly those relevant to cooperative credit societies.
The discussions covered maintenance and audit of books of accounts, timely filing of income tax returns to claim deductions under Section 80P, and responding to departmental notices through the e-filing portal.
The interactive programme also addressed queries raised by participants and aimed to improve tax compliance awareness among grassroots cooperative credit institutions.
