IRAS Officer Meena appointed ED of TRIFED

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Prateek Singh Meena as Executive Director (Director Level) of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India at its New Delhi headquarters under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on May 30, Meena, an Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer of the 2012 batch, has been appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The appointment has been made through temporary downgrading of the post from Level-14 to Level-13 (Director Level), with the recruitment rules for the post kept in abeyance.

The DoPT has directed the Ministry of Railways to relieve Meena immediately so that he can take up his new assignment. As per existing ACC guidelines, the officer is required to join the post within three weeks of the issuance of the appointment order, failing which the process for debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme may be initiated.

TRIFED plays a key role in promoting tribal livelihoods, marketing tribal products and strengthening tribal cooperatives across the country.
