Indian Potash Limited (IPL) and Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote scientific, sustainable and technology-driven sugarcane cultivation across Gujarat.

Signed at IPL’s corporate office in New Delhi, the partnership will focus on the survey, design, supply and installation of drip irrigation systems, along with farmer training, capacity building and field demonstrations to encourage modern cultivation practices.

The two organisations will jointly promote efficient irrigation and fertigation technologies, precision input management and improved agronomic practices to enhance sugar productivity and water-use efficiency.

They will also facilitate access to credit and government grants for eligible farmers adopting micro-irrigation systems. JISL State Head (Gujarat) Girdhar Loh said the collaboration would accelerate the adoption of drip irrigation, reduce cultivation costs, improve crop yields, increase farmers’ incomes and contribute to the sustainable growth of India’s sugar and biofuel sectors while conserving precious water resources.
