IFFDC, 1st Indian Co-op to earn huge carbon credits

It is great news indeed that IFFDC promoted by IFFCO is the 1st Indian Cooperative in the Agro Forestry sector to get 78000 Carbon Credits issued by VERRA, US for creating 189 ha forest on wastelands.

A sale of 41,000 credits gives an earning of ? 6.72 Crore. The news was tweeted by IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who congratulated the team for their performance.

This amount will be shared with member Forestry Cooperatives & their member farmers on whose land plantation is done. The forestry project addresses UN SDG–13 (Climate Action) & 15.

IFFDC Head S P Singh says “Coops are best suited models for Combating Climate Change. Our Project is grassroot movement. Sale of Credits will give a big fillip to AgroForestry Project thru Forestry Coop member farmers.” Singh thanked Awasthi profusely for his guidance.
