IFFCO remembers May Day

Even as workers staged massive rallies around the world to mark International Workers Day, the largest farmers’ cooperative in the country IFFCO wished Happy May Day to all.

Led by MD Dr U S Awasthi it tweeted “#IFFCO wishes Happy #May Day to everyone. Let’s salute & respect the workers who are building the nation & behind every growth & development.

IFFCO PR in its FB wall wrote “the first day of the month May, is an occasion to salute the contributions of each worker in every industry. Back in late 19th century, socialists and communists conceived this day for commemorating workers across the globe.”

“IFFCO salutes the roles contributions of these workers, especially farmers, for the delights in our kitchens” it concluded.

On a tour to eastern Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared himself worker number one on this occasion.

In some parts of the world May Day rallies also became violent. Fearing France’s worker protections are under threat, hundreds of angry youths in France hurled stones and wood at police in Paris, receiving repeated bursts of tear gas in response.

There were reports of violence from Turkey and Philippines also. In Cuba the street wore phenomenal look with workers occupying every inch of it.
