IFFCO, KRIBHCO lead Rajasthan fertiliser distribution drive

In a major boost to the cooperative fertiliser sector, Rajasthan Cooperation Minister Gautam Kumar Dak has directed officials of IFFCO and KRIBHCO to ensure that fertiliser distribution in the state is carried out entirely through cooperative societies, including purchase-sale cooperatives and Gram Seva Sahkari Samitis.

Chairing a high-level review meeting ahead of the Kharif and Rabi seasons, Dak stressed that restricting fertiliser sales through private dealers would help curb black marketing and guarantee farmers timely access to urea, DAP and other fertilisers at fair prices.

He also instructed officials to strengthen supply systems in underserved blocks and ensure fertiliser rake movement to tribal regions like Dungarpur and Banswara.

The minister further directed cooperative societies to sell fertilisers only from cooperative-model companies such as IFFCO and KRIBHCO to check fake fertiliser sales.

Officials were also asked to regularly inspect cooperative warehouses and monitor stock availability across districts.
