The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, has reported major progress under its nationwide ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ promoting soil health, balanced fertiliser use and sustainable farming practices.
So far, 12,979 awareness camps and seminars have reached over 7.17 lakh farmers across the country. Around 3,145 training programmes were organised with participation of more than 1.11 lakh people, while 7,928 field demonstrations highlighted green manuring, bio-fertilisers and organic nutrient sources.
The campaign also conducted Janpratinidhi Sammelans and dealer interactions to spread awareness on scientific nutrient management. Through radio, television, digital programmes and social media outreach, the initiative has connected with nearly 2.712 crore citizens nationwide, encouraging sustainable and soil test-based agriculture practices.
