Housfed: Forum supports members

praskash singh badalDistrict consumer disputes redressal forum has given a jolt to Federation of cooperative house building societies (Housefed), Punjab staying the notice issued by it to six hundred allottees to pay way over the originally determined amount within two months.

As per the scheme, allottees were required to pay the whole amount in 120 instalments spread over 10 years. Counsel for the allottees argued before the forum the federation is violating the agreement demanding more money and not giving possession of flats.

The housing scheme began in 2004 and possession of flats had to be given already in 2007. The excessive delay in completing the construction by the federation had attracted the ire from the allottees.  The Housefed was set up in 1970 to meet the challenge of housing shortage in Punjab.
