The Orissa High Court has initiated contempt proceedings against Siddharth Das, Managing Director of the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, for alleged non-compliance with its order to release gratuity dues with interest to a retired officer.
A single bench of Sanjay Kumar Mishra issued notice to examine if there was wilful disobedience of its October 28, 2025 judgment, which upheld directives under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. The bank had been ordered to pay dues with 10% interest to Managobinda Barik, a former deputy general manager.
Barik approached the court again in March 2026 citing non-compliance. The matter will be heard next on May 14.
