Govt prepares to snatch PMCH off co-op fold

Paying the liabilities and the loan taken from HUDCO by Pariyaram Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Kerala govt has indicated its intention to control the medical institution working in the cooperative sector, reports Times of India.

The state govt will pay Hudco Rs 262 crore in two years, says a source. Official sources say the government would take over the medical college and retain it as an autonomous institution.

The medical college was established in 1993. The college had always been in the eye of political storms before it finally came under the CPM’s control.
