Going hi-tech: Amul initiates fodder crop estimation

With the intention of informing milk producers about fodder cultivation and production estimates, Amul has established a satellite remote sensing centre in Anand which would cover Kaira, Anand and Mahisagar districts and later some districts of Central and North Gujarat for fodder crop estimation, reports Business Line.

Earlier , GCMMF and ISRO had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to this effect.

A source said the satellite remote sensing technology will be used for the dairy sector as well.

Amul says the new facility will help farmers in multiple ways including when to grow fodder , intensify production and improve availability of fodder.
