Goa’s First Co-op Housing Society goes Solar under PM Scheme

In a significant push towards clean energy adoption in the cooperative sector, Vision Royal Cooperative Housing Maintenance Society Ltd., recognized as Goa’s first cooperative housing society, has inaugurated its rooftop solar panel installation to generate green energy.

The initiative has been undertaken under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship programme of the Central Government aimed at promoting rooftop solar installations and reducing electricity costs for households.

According to the Department of Cooperation Goa, which shared the development, the project marks a milestone in integrating sustainability with cooperative housing.

The solar installation is expected to not only reduce dependence on conventional energy sources but also contribute to environmental conservation through clean power generation.

The development underscores the growing role of cooperatives in driving grassroots-level participation in national sustainability missions.
