GCMMF Board extends Sodhi’s tenure; MD thanks Board

GCMMF’s board of directors has extended the tenure of its MD R S Sodhi for six months. Talking to Indian Cooperative, Sodhi thanked the Board for the same.

There was an overwhelming support for Sodhi’s extension as he is in the midst of several new projects launched by Amul owner GCMMF. The decision was taken in the latest meeting of the board held on Wednesday.

GCMMF has helped Andhra launch an ambitious AP-Amul Paala Velluva which aims to enlist 9,899 villages across the state in a phased manner in the dairy business. Bulk milk cooling units and automated milk collection centres with a total investment of Rs 3,000 crore have been mooted.

In Sodhi’s tenure Amul has ventured out in several other states including J&K and Uttar Pradesh. Sodhi predicted earlier that UP would be a milk surplus state in flat 10 years.

In Corona times GCMMF led by Sodhi diversified product portfolio. The multi-channel distribution network of Amul led to an excellent performance. In the food category, one must keep on inventing and launching new products to stay on the top of their game,” Sodhi told this correspondent.

It bears recall that GCMMF’s annual turnover has grown to be around Rs 40k crore in this year but the cooperative aims to raise it to 1 lakh crore in the next few years.

Sodhi’s term was to end on December 31 this year.
