Fraud in PACS in Tamil Nadu village

Indian moneyAccording to an Indian Express report, the cooperative dept has ordered a departmental enquiry against two employees of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank in T. Periyakaram village in Vellore in Tamil Nadu.

The fraudsters are accused of siphoning off an amount of Rs 24 lakh. The two employees have already been put under suspension. Officials said Bank Manager (in-charge) P S Mahendran, Office Assistant M Ramesh, and secretary of PACB Jayakandan, swindled the money in the month of January and February from the bank accounts.

The incident came to light during the third week of February when the farmers raised the issue with the other bank staff, who in turn, filed a complaint with senior officials about the misappropriation of funds by the trio.

In the wake of the revelations, Ramesh and Mahendran were suspended. A case has been filed against the trio, by the president of the PACB at Kandhili police station.
