Fertilizer: Farmers get benefit of rate cut in Punjab

As directed by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (Markfed) has decided to supply DAP fertiliser to farmers at the reduced rate of Rs. 1000 per tonne, reports Press Trust of India.

As a result of the decision, farmers would get fertiliser through their respective cooperative societies at Rs 22,700 per tonne instead of the existing Rs 23,700 per tonne.

Official sources said Markfed has made arrangements to ensure uninterrupted supply of DAP fertiliser to the cooperative societies

The Punjab cooperative established in 1954 with a capital of Rs 50,000, is one of the leading cooperative societies with a turnover of more than Rs 12,000 crore per annum.
