IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi has welcomed the govt resolve to achieve its target of DBT in fertilizers by the end of 2018, as reported in Economic Times.

Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) has been a great success, the number of beneficiaries crossing the 30-crore mark. The government intends transferring all subsidies through an Aadhaar-enabled DBT by the end of 2017, reports Economic Times.

Dr Awasthi tweeted his happiness “Congratulations PM @narendramodi to set target for DBT in #fertiliser subsidy by end of 2018.”

With the new Aadhaar Act in force, the government will make all payments through the APB to eliminate any chance of leakage or payments to wrong beneficiaries, a govt official is quoted claiming.

100 per cent Aadhaar seeding into bank accounts of those receiving benefits under govt schemes will be completed by the end of 2016.

Officials say, to reform the Public Distribution System (PDS) and Food Subsidy, the government will ensure portability of obtaining rations anywhere in the country through Aadhaar-enabled ration cards.

Greetings to the readers of indian cooperative. Yes DBT in fertilizer will be a great step. Government should reduce the prices of phosphatic and pottasium based fertilizers also. Then they can launch a portal/app from where farmers should be able to order door step delivery of fertilizer and receive subsidy in their aadhaar linked account. We need to double fertilizer production. We also need to link farmer’s aadhaar number with the GIS based land records.
