The former Chairman of Durg (Chhattisgarh) District Cooperative Bank and a known face in cooperative circles Pritpal Belchandan was arrested on Thursday from his residence.
He has been accused of embezzlement of crores of rupees during his tenure as the Chairman of Durg DCCB.
Additional Superintendent of Police City Sanjay Dhruv said that Pritpal Belchandan, former chairman of District Cooperative Central Bank Durg had caused a financial loss of about Rs 15 crore to the bank during his tenure as chairman.
Pritpal Belchandan has been the Chairman of Durg District Central Cooperative Bank for 20 years.
