Members of the All Delhi Auto Taxi Transport Congress Union (ADATTCU) staged a protest on Monday and attempted to submit a memorandum to Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, raising concerns over the functioning of Sahkar Bharat Taxi Cooperative Ltd., low fares offered by app-based aggregators, and the entry of Green SM electric taxis in Delhi.
The union alleged that several protesters were detained by Delhi Police before they could meet the minister.
In its memorandum, ADATTCU accused Bharat Taxi of failing to adequately safeguard the interests of drivers and alleged financial irregularities in its operations. It claimed that drivers were not receiving fair earnings and that welfare measures such as insurance and social security benefits had not been implemented effectively.
The union also alleged unfair treatment of some employees, including termination without notice, and raised concerns regarding the alleged harassment of women employees. It demanded an independent audit and investigation into Bharat Taxi’s functioning.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and no response from Bharat Taxi was immediately available.
