Distributing dividends, CM highlights Co-op Banks’ turnaround

While inaugurating the Youth Cooperative Conference–2025 on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also participated in the Annual General Body Meeting of the Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Limited and distributed Rs 76 crore as online dividend to the bank’s stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Bank has established itself as a NABARD-category bank, currently operating through 40 branches across the state. He noted that all 50 district cooperative banks in Uttar Pradesh are now running in profit, having successfully overcome the severe financial crisis they faced in the past.

Emphasising the government’s vision of “One District, One Cooperative Bank,” the Chief Minister stated that the process for setting up a new district cooperative bank in Balrampur has already begun.

He further informed that cooperative banks in the state earned a combined profit of over Rs 162 crore during the financial year 2024–25, marking a significant turnaround in the cooperative sector.

To further strengthen the cooperative movement, the MPACS Membership Maha Abhiyan–2025 was launched on September 12, 2025, by Murlidhar Mohol, Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation. During the campaign, 24 lakh new members were enrolled, generating Rs 43 crore in share capital, while Rs 550 crore was mobilised as deposits in district cooperative banks.
