The election for the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) Governing Council has taken an interesting turn, with fresh discussions emerging over the candidature of NAFED delegate Mohanbhai Kundariya.
According to cooperative circles, Kundariya was reportedly urged to withdraw his nomination on the last day of filing. However, he chose to remain in the race, setting the stage for an intriguing contest.
The constituency representing National Level Cooperative Societies and Federations will now witness polling, with six candidates fighting for five seats. As only one candidate will be eliminated, the contest is expected to be closely fought.
Apart from Kundariya, the other candidates in the fray are Dileep Sanghani, Bipin Patel, Meenesh Shah, Vishal Singh and Dalip Singh Yadav. The electoral college consists of 16 voters, making every vote crucial.
Cooperative circles are closely watching the electoral arithmetic, particularly after Kundariya decided to stay in the race despite the reported efforts to persuade him to withdraw.
The outcome of this constituency is expected to be one of the highlights of the NCUI Governing Council elections on July 18.
