Deputy Registrar (Co-op) demands 21 lacs

The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of Maharashtra recently arrested Deputy Registrar (Cooperative Societies), Sakkardara, for demanding Rs 21 lakh cash from President of a co-operative society, reports Hitavada.

The deputy registrar had pointed out some anomalies in the functioning of two cooperative societies and demanded the amount from the president for not initiating action against his two societies.

The president lodged a complaint with the ACB against the erring deputy registrar. The bureau registered an offence under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the deputy registrar.

The erring cooperative official was later arrested.
