Demand for Co-op University grows in Himachal

During the inaugural function of the newly built head office of Kangra Cooperative Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, attendees demanded the opening of a Cooperative University in Himachal Pradesh.

Those who raised the demand for a university argued since the country’s first cooperative was registered in the Una District of Himachal Pradesh in 1892, the state deserved a cooperative university without delay. The branch was inaugurated by the state Cooperative Minister Suresh Bhardwaj last week.

In Himachal, there are over 4600 cooperative societies and more than 17 lakh members are associated with them.

On the occasion, local MLA Vishal Nahariya, BJP District President Chandra Bhushan, and others were present.
