A rapid survey of functional cooperative societies has begun across Delhi to evaluate their contribution to the economy and employment generation. The exercise is being conducted by the Ministry of Cooperation and is expected to continue till September, media reports say.
According to officials, the survey will assess Gross Value Added, Gross Value Output and jobs created by cooperative institutions. Delhi has nearly 6,000 cooperative societies operating in sectors such as agriculture, credit, labour, marketing, transport and consumer services.
Field officers from the National Statistical Office may visit selected societies to collect operational and financial records, including payrolls, accounts and balance sheets, for the nationwide assessment exercise.
