DCCBs & PACS join hands for storage in Odisha

In Bhubaneswar, a tripartite agreement has been executed for the construction of warehouses in the world’s largest grain storage initiative facilitated through cooperatives in the state, reports media outlets.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) involved construction firms, the National Construction Corporation (NBCC), the concerned Central Cooperative Bank (CCB), and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) / Larger Adivasi Multipurpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS).

This significant step was taken in the presence of Uddhav Chandra Majhi, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies. Addressing the pressing need for storage capacity, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between the required 24,93,750 metric ton capacity and the existing 11,92,760 metric ton capacity warehouses.

The project, part of the “World’s Largest Grain Storage Scheme through Co-operatives,” is a pilot launched collaboratively by the Government of India and the Government of Odisha.
