Haryana’s Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Ravindra Patil chaired a meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee at the Mini Secretariat and highlighted the crucial role of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in supporting farmers.

He said PACS are directly connected with farmers and provide loans, seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural inputs to promote food grain production.

The Deputy Commissioner said the government has expanded the scope of PACS and decided to link them with the food grain storage chain in the interest of farmers.

Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies and Committee Convener Birender Singh informed the meeting that the district has 25 MPACS, whose records are being regularly updated on the NCD portal. He added that, apart from these, 640 cooperative societies are registered in the district.

He further stated that 15 PACS have applied for membership of national-level cooperative societies.

The Deputy Commissioner urged officials to encourage all PACS to join the world’s largest food grain storage scheme to ensure maximum participation from Jhajjar district. So far, eight PACS have expressed interest, and the process has been initiated as per government guidelines.
