Dairy led farmers’ prosperity, and the strong financial background of village cooperatives in general will have an impact on the assembly elections currently underway in Gujarat.
There are scores of villages in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district that have greatly changed and prospered due to their being connected with dairy cooperatives.
For example, a 65-year-old Navalben Chaudhary, a milk farmer from this area has sold milk worth ?1.41 crore to the dairy over the past year, the highest achievement for any individual household in the country, reports HT.
She was felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2022.
